Taku 2013 - 5: Frost
November 3

Aurora Harbor and the Highlands

A free day and good weather finally cooperarted in early November for a quick trip to close up the Taku cabin. My mother, Chris, Cailey, and I flew up in a 206 in the morning and were picked up that same afternoon. In addition to the standard closeup chores, Chris and I had the time to take a little walk upriver. Later, we all went downriver into an enormous, rambling patch of highbush cranberries, picking several tubs full for liqueur and jelly. The sun still had warmth, but the portion of the meadows that were permanently shaded never lost their frost. We flew back into the sunset, a rare and beautiful sight.
